UP Warriorz (UPW) have signed Australian batter Georgia Voll to take the place of Chamari Athapaththu for the rest of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. Athapaththu has left the competition to play for Sri Lanka in their upcoming tour against New Zealand, which begins on March 4.
The Australian batter will be paid INR 30 lakh to join UP Warriorz. Her addition is expected to strengthen the team as they continue in the tournament.
Voll is considered a promising young batter in international cricket. The 21-year-old has had a strong start to her international career, including scoring a century in only her second One Day International (ODI). She has played for Australia in all three cricket formats: T20 Internationals (T20Is), ODIs, and Test matches.
Before joining Sydney Thunder last year, Voll played for Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). She had strong performances for Sydney Thunder, scoring two nineties. Recently, she was also awarded the Women’s Domestic Player of the Year at the Cricket Australia awards.
