Audiences aren’t the only ones moved by urgent stories. Sometimes, the subjects can overwhelm the actors as well. A case in point being Adarsh Gourav, who features in Scott Z Burns’s Extrapolations that deals with the subjects of climate change and global warming. The actor, who is an advocate for environmental conservation, says he broke down when he saw the rushes of the Apple TV series, overcome by how our actions are impacting the planet.

“When you are passionate about the story you are telling, you are bound to feel it deeply as an actor. I was moved when I saw the first rushes of Extrapolations,” he says. Noting that climate change is a crucial conversation across the world today, Gourav adds, “Currently, this is the most alarming issue. I hope we still have time to save Earth from devastation in the future, as predicted in the series.” The sci-fi series stars Meryl Streep, Marion Cotillard, and Kit Harington.

During the lockdown, OTT platforms got a major boost and in turn gave a major boost to web series in India. `Scam 1992` was one of the biggest hits during this period. The 10-episode series directed by Hansal Mehta had a relatively new face in the lead. Pratik Gandhi shot to fame with his portrayal of the late stock broker Harshad Mehta who was also known as the Big Bull. 

Recently, actor Rajesh Jais who played the role of SBI GM Khemani revealed an interesting trivia from the shoot of the series. Rajesh Jais, who is a graduate form the National School of Drama was doing a scene from the series opposite Rajat Kapoor, who is also a theatres actor and NSD graduate. “We were both improvising on the scene as we proceeded and were feeding off on each other’s energies and this comes from formal training,” he shared while talking to Mid-Day Online. While doing so, director Hansal Mehta walked out of the room and did not return. “I was confused as to what happened. I was wondering why he would not come and tell if he did not like what we were doing. However, he later came in and said that the scene was good that he did not feel the need to sot and direct it,” he added. 

Rajesh Jais who was part of India`s first daily soap `Shanti` has now  been a part of several hit web series including `Pataal Lok`, `Tanaav`, `Panchayat` and others. The actor feels that there are better written character roles today than before. While earlier actors were largely selected based on appearance, he feels that today there are more well fleshed out characters for screen.

Jais has also performed with several young stars from including Janhvi Kapoor in `Roohi`, Kiara Advani in `Indoo Ki Jawani`, and Kartik Aaryan in `Sonu Ki Titu Ke Sweety`. Talking about the current generation of actors, Jais shared that they are far more well-prepared than actors were before. “They do their homework and come prepared on sets and take their job quite seriously”. After `Farzi` was declared the most-watched Indian series of all time, directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK couldn`t keep calm and went into celebration mode. Actor Varun Dhawan on Saturday shared a glimpse of celebration on `Citadel` sets.

Taking to Instagram stories, Varun treated fans with a video from Farzi`s celebration.

In the video, Raj and DK along with others were seen posing in front of `Farzi` celebration cake.

Sharing the video, he wrote, “Congratulations.”

In the early hours of Saturday, Shahid shared a post revealing the data and details. In the caption, he wrote, “Farzi Fever…THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.”

The series directors Raj and DK have also shared a post saying, “Thank you all… for all the love!!”

`Farzi` features an ensemble cast including talented actors Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Raashii Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Bhuvan Arora, Regina Cassandra, and Amol Palekar in pivotal roles.

The story revolves around a life of a small-time con artist Sunny (played by Shahid), who finds himself drawn into the dark while creating a perfect con. However, a fiery and unconventional task force officer (played by Vijay Sethupathi) has made it his mission to rid the nation of the threat he poses.

Taking up an issue like counterfeiting which is termed as no less than a `financial terrorism` (in the series), the series is applauded for its content as well as performances.

Helmed by the acclaimed director duo, Raj and DK, the crime thriller marks the digital debut of Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi. The lead actors have confirmed the second season of the series.

`Citadel` is being created by Raj and DK, `Citadel` also stars Varun Dhawan in the lead role.

Raj and DK will also serve as executive producers, under their banner D2R Films. The series is produced by D2R Films and Amazon Studios, with AGBO`s Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, and David Weil (Hunters) overseeing production on the Indian Original and all series within the global Citadel universe.

The international version of `Citadel` is created by the Russo Brothers and stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.

The release date of the Indian version of Citadel is awaited.
