Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced Ottis Gibson, the former West Indies fast bowler, as their new Assistant Coach for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Gibson, aged 55, will join a strong coaching lineup under Head Coach Chandrakant Pandit. The team also includes Dwayne Bravo as mentor, Bharat Arun as bowling coach, and Carl Crowe specializing in spin bowling.

Gibson’s coaching career is extensive, following his four years playing for the West Indies. He has twice served as England’s bowling coach and has held head coach positions for both the West Indies (leading them to victory in the 2012 T20 World Cup) and South Africa. His experience also includes stints with Bangladesh, Yorkshire County Cricket Club, and various T20 franchises.

The defending IPL champions, KKR, are restructuring their coaching staff after Gautam Gambhir, who was the mentor last season, moved to coach the Indian national team. Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate have also joined Gambhir in his new role with India.

KKR will commence their title defense on March 22 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at their home ground. The team will be captained by Ajinkya Rahane, with Venkatesh Iyer as the vice-captain.
