A new method to detect Smoke of Deceit or any other item in an opponent’s inventory has been discovered in Dota 2. According to a Telegram post, this is the third vulnerability related to this consumable item.
The bug is triggered in the item description when an item, such as Smoke of Deceit, has been previously observed in an enemy’s possession. By performing a specific sequence of actions, it becomes possible to determine if the item remains in its initial state, even if it has been moved to a courier or dropped on the ground.
Previously, a team was disqualified from a tournament for exploiting a Smoke of Deceit bug. It was later revealed that other teams had also used similar exploits. Valve has addressed this vulnerability twice before, but players continue to find new variations.
