Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is likely to return to professional cricket after resting and receiving a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection on Wednesday, March 12th.
PRP treatment is a method where a concentrated amount of a patient’s own platelets is injected into an injured area. This aims to encourage healing, reduce swelling, and potentially speed up tissue repair and lessen pain.
A member of the BCB medical team confirmed that Mustafizur was given a PRP injection and will need to rest before playing again.
According to the medical team member, Mustafizur doesn’t have a new injury, but his previously operated left shoulder sometimes causes discomfort. He usually manages this and continues to play.
The medical official explained that PRP injections are typically used to boost healing and decrease pain through tissue regeneration. Recovery after a PRP injection usually takes about 7 to 10 days for a player.
Mustafizur is expected to make his comeback to competitive cricket in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League after Eid-Ul-Fitr. There’s also speculation about his potential participation in the Indian Premier League, although nothing is confirmed yet. He might choose to play for Prime Bank Cricket Club, where he played in the DPL last year.
An official from Prime Bank mentioned that they would consider signing him if he becomes fit and if it fits within their budget.
