Mumbai Indians have announced the signing of South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch as a replacement for Lizaad Williams. Williams will unfortunately miss the upcoming IPL 2025 season due to a knee injury. This injury also kept Williams out of the SA20 tournament in January, and he has not recovered sufficiently to participate in the IPL for the five-time champions. Mumbai Indians had originally signed Williams for his base price of INR 75 Lakh.

Bosch, who was not picked in the mega auction, is familiar with the Mumbai Indians setup, having represented MI Cape Town in the recent SA20. In that tournament, he impressed by taking 11 wickets in eight matches, including a notable performance of 4 wickets for 19 runs against Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Interestingly, Bosch was also drafted by Peshawar Zalmi for the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), scheduled from April 11 to May 18. The IPL season is set to take place from March 22 to May 25.

This is not Corbin Bosch’s first association with the IPL. He previously joined Rajasthan Royals as a net bowler and was later signed as a replacement player for Nathan Coulter-Nile. However, he is yet to make his official IPL debut and play a match in the league.

On the international stage, Bosch debuted in Test cricket for South Africa against Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test of 2024 in Centurion. This followed his debut in One Day International (ODI) cricket against the same opposition in Johannesburg just days prior. Furthermore, Bosch was called up to replace the injured Anrich Nortje in South Africa’s squad for the Champions Trophy.
