The bodyguard of soccer star Lionel Messi has proposed a boxing match against Logan Paul as tensions rise from their ongoing legal conflict.
YouTuber and boxer Logan Paul had previously challenged Messi amidst a legal battle concerning copyright issues between their respective energy drink companies.
Messi’s energy drink, Mas+, was launched in 2024 to compete with Prime, the brand Logan Paul co-founded with KSI in 2022.
Similarities in branding and design were noted, leading Mas+ to initiate legal action against PRIME, claiming they were forced to rebrand. PRIME counter-sued, alleging trademark design violations.
Paul, age 29, criticized the situation, stating, “this ain’t justice,” and challenged the renowned Ballon d’Or winner.
He commented, “You copied us. It’s obvious. Everyone can see it, and then we get sued? That’s not fair.”
“We are countersuing, naturally. If you want to be the best, you have to compete with the best, but copying trademarks is illegal.”
“We are holding them responsible. But seriously, I would consider dropping the lawsuit if a Logan Paul versus Messi fight happens in 2025. I’ll meet you in the ring, brother.”
While a soccer skills contest between them would be uneven, despite Paul’s appearance in a charity soccer match, a boxing match between the taller Paul (6ft 1in) and Messi (5ft 7in) seems improbable.
However, Yassine Cheuko, Messi’s bodyguard, has volunteered to fight in his place.
Cheuko, 34, a Muay Thai expert, has gained attention for his dedicated protection of Messi in Miami and previously in Paris Saint-Germain.
The bodyguard, reportedly a former Navy SEAL, stated about the potential fight: “Messi is likely unaware of who this guy is. If Logan truly desires a fight, he can face me, not a soccer player.”
Logan Paul’s previous boxing match in 2023 concluded chaotically when his opponent, Dillon Danis, attempted a guillotine hold, sparking a large brawl.
Since then, Paul has entered WWE, becoming the United States Champion before losing the title at SummerSlam.
