Former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade is set to return to the Gujarat Titans for the IPL 2025 season. This time, he will be joining the team’s support staff as an Assistant Coach. The 37-year-old will be part of a coaching team that includes Head Coach Ashish Nehra, Batting Coach Parthiv Patel, and fellow Assistant Coaches Aashish Kapoor and Narender Negi.
Wade previously played 12 matches for the Titans across two seasons (2022, 2024), scoring a total of 161 runs. After retiring from international cricket in October last year, he quickly transitioned into coaching. His first coaching experience was as part of Andre Borovec’s staff for a T20I series against Pakistan, while the main coaches prepared for the Test series against India.
Gujarat Titans made an impressive entry into the league in 2022, reaching the finals in their first two seasons and winning the title in their debut year. However, last year they faced challenges, winning only five of their 14 league games and finishing eighth out of the 10 teams.
