Vladimir ‘Maelstorm’ Kuzminov, a renowned Dota 2 commentator and analyst, shared his opinion on Aurora Gaming’s mid-player substitution for the PGL Wallachia Season 3 tournament. His comments were posted on his Telegram channel.
Maelstorm stated that while the Aurora tag will be present at PGL Wallachia, the team with Lorenof as a stand-in instead of Kyotaka will be significantly different. He believes it will be hard to judge the team’s prospects based on this performance, as results might not accurately reflect the main roster’s potential. Even a top placement wouldn’t reveal much about the true Aurora team with Kyotaka.
He elaborated, recalling how teams like Tundra and GG experienced substantial shifts in performance after just one player change. This highlights the considerable impact a substitution can have, especially when it involves a mid-player of Kyotaka’s caliber.
Aurora Gaming announced their updated roster on February 28th. PGL Wallachia Season 3 was intended to be their debut tournament with this new lineup. However, due to visa issues preventing Gleb ‘kiyotaka’ Zyryanov from participating, Artem ‘Lorenof’ Melnik will be standing in for him.
