English cricketer Harry Brook has decided not to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He stated that this decision is due to his need to prepare for his national team duties.

Delhi Capitals had acquired Brook for INR 6.25 Crore in the auction last November. This is the second consecutive time Brook has withdrawn from the IPL, which could lead to a ban from future competitions.

According to IPL regulations, players who register for auction and then become unavailable after being picked, risk being banned from participating in the tournament for two seasons. Exceptions are made for injuries or medical reasons.

Brook explained on social media that he needs to recharge after a very busy period in his career to fully commit to England cricket and prepare for upcoming series.

He acknowledged that some may not understand his decision, but emphasized that playing for his country is his main priority.

Last year, Brook also withdrew from the Delhi Capitals’ season due to bereavement. He has only played in one IPL season previously, in 2023 for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
