Gervonta Davis, known as “Tank,” is back in the boxing ring tonight!
The top-rated lightweight boxer will face Lamont Roach Jr., the WBA Super Featherweight World Champion, in a challenge for the WBA lightweight title.
Despite his smaller size, Davis is considered one of the most formidable boxers globally.
Hailing from Baltimore, the knockout expert has an undefeated record of 30 wins, with 28 knockouts. He initially secured the WBA lightweight and super featherweight titles by knocking out Leo Santa Cruz in 2020.
Most recently, Davis won against Frank Martin by knockout.
Roach Jr., with a record of 25-1-1, previously lost to Jamel Herring for the WBO super featherweight title in November 2019. However, he has since rebounded with four consecutive victories.
Roach Jr. achieved his first title victory against Héctor Luis García for the WBA super featherweight title in November 2023, by majority decision.
To defend his championship, the Washington, DC native recently defeated Feargal McCrory via TKO in front of his local fans. If Roach were to defeat Davis, he would have five days to decide which championship belt to retain.
