New video shows Eddie Hearn confronting rival promoter Ben Shalom at the end of a Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn press conference, which became chaotic.
The press conference descended into a brawl after Chris Eubank Jr slapped an egg into the face of Conor Benn.
Hearn was in the middle of the chaos and tried to get to Shalom as things spiraled out of control.
Security intervened, calming the situation by holding back both boxers. A visibly angry Benn required three security personnel to restrain him.
Video footage circulating on social media seems to show Hearn pushing Shalom during the altercation.
Eubank stated that the egg stunt was a reference to Benn’s failed drug test from 2022.
The first fight between Eubank and Benn was cancelled due to Benn’s positive test for clomiphene.
The WBC had previously suggested that Benn’s failed test could be linked to egg consumption.
Eubank later posted on social media: “Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg.”
After the situation calmed down, Hearn addressed reporters, saying that the fight would be cancelled if Benn and Eubank encountered each other again that night.
Hearn explained, “What’s happened now changes everything. If you act like that, there are consequences.”
“We need to implement measures to control the situation and prevent it from escalating further.”
“If they meet again now, the entire fight is off. They were on the verge of a full-blown fight.”
Earlier in the evening, Hearn and Eubank had exchanged heated words in Manchester.
Hearn questioned, “Is this the Chris Eubank show?”
Eubank responded, “This is Eubank vs Benn. You can disrupt the event, and I will speak to Benn directly. And you can be quiet. I don’t want to hear what you have to say.”
Hearn then turned to Benn, amidst audience cheers, and asked, “How do you feel about smashing this guy to pieces?”
