Comedian Evgeny Chebatkov has announced that he favors Heroes of Might and Magic IV over the third game in the series. He discussed his unconventional choice, which deviates from common gamer opinion, during an interview on the “Navigator of the Game World” YouTube channel.
“I want to start with a bit of a controversial statement, so I’ll talk about a game that historically — it’s generally accepted — is perceived very negatively and painfully by many. I’ve never argued about any game as much as this one. Many of my friends turned away from me when I said that I love it — this particular installment, so to speak. Because the series is truly legendary. I’m talking about Heroes of Might and Magic IV.
Because everyone tells me: ‘You must have misspoke, you meant the third part, because it’s naturally Heroes III.’ I say: ‘No, I like the fourth one.’ After that, people look at me a bit as if I said I had tasted human flesh. I say: ‘No, I like the fourth one.’ They say: ‘What? How can you like the fourth one? It’s just… They ruined everything, they messed it all up.’ I say: ‘No, well, there’s a cool feature there, you can even play as a single hero without an army — there’s an RPG element there, cool stories, pleasant graphics.’ With all due respect to the third part, the fourth Heroes, after it, look very soft and great to the eye, everything is so smooth.
I especially loved playing as barbarians, with berserkers, centaurs, and cyclops. They were full of a certain brutality, and I really liked that.”
Chebatkov has previously mentioned that he became interested in gaming in his childhood. He named Spyro the Dragon as one of the first games that remains among his favorites. Additionally, the comedian shared his impressions of Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us.
