Conor Benn’s playful jab at Ben Shalom made even his own promoter, Eddie Hearn, react with a flinch.
The tension was high at Tuesday’s press conference in Manchester, where Chris Eubank Jr and Benn formally announced their highly anticipated match on April 26.
Due to past incidents, security kept the rivals separated when they met again at Tottenham’s stadium.
However, Benn still managed to tease Eubank’s promoter Shalom by making a sudden move towards the Boxxer boss, causing both Shalom and Hearn to visibly flinch.
Fans online found the moment hilarious. One commenter remarked, “Flinch? He literally shat himself.”
Another joked about Hearn’s reaction, saying, “Eddie s*** himself also.”
Earlier in the week, at a previous event, Eubank, 35, caused a stir by smashing an egg over Benn’s face.
This egg incident was a reference to Benn’s previous failed drug tests that led to the cancellation of their initial fight in October 2022.
The WBC had controversially suggested that Benn’s positive tests for clomiphene, a testosterone-boosting substance, could have been due to high egg consumption.
Benn, 28, has since had his suspension by UK Anti-Doping lifted following an investigation, clearing the way for him to continue boxing.
Eubank, on the other hand, is now under investigation by the British Boxing Board of Control but has shown no remorse for his egg-related prank.
He stated, “If I had the chance, I’d do it again.”
He added, “Me throwing an egg at someone — who ridiculously claims that’s why he failed two drug tests — that’s mild, he deserved the embarrassment.”
