Conor Benn joked that his mother would not be happy if she saw the footage of the press conference incident with Chris Eubank Jr.
At a heated press conference on Tuesday, the 28-year-old boxer was hit in the face with an egg by Chris Eubank Jr.
At the event in North London, a visibly angry Benn had to be restrained by three security guards.
The two rivals met to promote their upcoming April fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Nigel Benn, Conor’s father and former world champion, was also on stage during the face-off.
Viral footage showed Nigel Benn appearing to grab Eubank by the neck amidst the chaos.
After the incident, Benn was seen backstage talking to his team and father.
Speaking to Nigel, Benn said: “Mum is gonna be really disappointed when she sees this.”
Former WBO middleweight champion Nigel replied jokingly: “She ain’t gonna see the video.”
Eddie Hearn, Benn’s promoter, had a verbal exchange with Eubank before the egg incident.
Eubank claimed that the egg stunt was a reference to Benn’s failed drug test in 2022.
Their first fight was cancelled after Benn tested positive for clomiphene.
Eubank later posted on X: “Eggcellent. Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg.”
A shaken Eddie Hearn later told reporters that the fight would be cancelled if Benn and Eubank encountered each other again.
Hearn stated: “What’s happened now is the game has changed.”
“And if you do that, you have to live with the consequences of that.”
“We have to put provisions in place – put a lid on it – to make sure this doesn’t get out of control.”
