A press conference featuring Chris Eubank Jr. exploded in tension after Conor Benn alleged that Eubank had made threats against his father, Nigel Benn.
This heated exchange occurred just two days after Eubank threw an egg at Benn’s face, a provocative act referencing Benn’s positive drug tests in 2022.
The situation on stage devolved into chaos when Conor Benn’s father, the legendary Nigel Benn, grabbed Eubank by the throat, an action for which he later apologized.
Eubank, 35, addressed the incident, stating, “I’ve got to just say something.”
“I understand the frustration and the anger you felt a couple of days ago after I egged Conor.”
“I understand, but you did put your hand around my neck. And I’m going to let it slide because of what happened.”
“But, I’m just letting you know if your hand ever touches me again, you won’t get it back.”
A furious Conor, 28, retorted, “Shut your f***ing mouth. Do you hear me? Do you hear me? Threaten my dad.”
“Oi, silly b****s, threaten my dad again, see what happens to you.”
Eubank responded, “I’m not threatening him, I’m just letting him know.”
Nigel Benn, who famously had two fights with Eubank Sr., intervened, saying, “Con, leave it, I can handle this. I’m old school, mate. I had this with his dad.”
“I’m old school, mate. This is not a problem. I understand and I apologize for doing that, mate. I really am sorry that I did that.”
“But you put your hands on my son.”
The WBC previously suggested that a high egg intake could be linked to Benn’s positive tests for clomiphene, a substance known to increase testosterone.
However, Benn’s UK Anti-Doping ban has since been lifted following an investigation, clearing the way for him to continue boxing.
Eubank, who is now under investigation by the British Boxing Board of Control, remained unapologetic for his egg-throwing incident.
He stated, “If I had the opportunity I’d do it again.”
“Me throwing an egg at someone — who absurdly claims that’s why he failed two drug tests — that’s light, he deserved the embarrassment.”
