The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Saturday that Zimbabwe will arrive in Bangladesh on April 15th for a two-Test match series.
This marks Zimbabwe’s first Test tour to Bangladesh in five years. Their last Test match in Bangladesh was in February 2020, where the hosts won the single match by an innings and 106 runs.
The first Test is scheduled to begin at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on April 20th, and the series-concluding Test will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram starting April 28th.
The last instance of Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium not hosting a Test match was in March 2024 when Sri Lanka played a two-Test series in Sylhet and Chattogram.
A BCB official stated that because SBNS is currently hosting Dhaka Premier League matches, the board opted to hold the Tests outside of Dhaka, expecting better pitches. “We regularly have DPL matches at SBNS, so we decided to play the Test series in Chattogram and Sylhet because those venues offer pitches that have had sufficient rest, which wouldn’t be the case in Dhaka,” the official explained.
